Achievements

  1. SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN:

                          Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by Govt. of India was carried forward by involving the students and staff of all the trades from the month of March, 2018 which continued upto July 2018.  It was further continued without any hitch. The staff and students were also encouraged to participate in the cleanliness campaign whole heartedly started by the Institute and to ensure cleanliness all around Institute Campus.

                         Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by our revered Prime Minister – Shri Narendra Modi, was carried forward by involving the students and staff to ensure cleanliness all around Institute Campus.  In response to the DGT letter no 19/06/2018-CD dated 14/09/2018,  Swachhata hi Seva campaign was also organized at this Institute and in addition to this, more activities were further organized under this programme like, organizing of Expert lectures, slogan writing competition, poster making competition, quiz competition  and it was a matter of great pride that the whole institute had participated in all these events. The great enthusiasm and velocity among the students was seen during these celebrations. The fortnight long cleanliness drive was organized in which all the students of the institute had participated and classrooms, labs, corridors, verandas were thoroughly cleaned.  The students participation has shown that this initiative of our worthy Prime Minister has inculcated a new spirit in the young generation of our country which is leading us towards new well organized and well disciplined lives and it will take the nation towards the new direction of a very promising societal culture and nation is going to touch the new heights where "Sky is the limit".   Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is changing the lives of crores of people. This campaign is working as Jan Andolan throughout the country.  This fortnight sanitation drive highlighted the flagship cleanliness initiative of Swachh Bharat Mission.

  1. CELEBRATION OF AAJEEVIKA DIWAS ON 5-5-2018

                          The Aajeevika Diwas was celebrated at Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Chandigarh with great pomp and show on 5th May, 2018. Sh. Maheshinder Singh Sidhu, Councillor, M.C., Chandigarh was the Chief Guest and Shri Sachin Rana, IAS, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh was the Guest of Honour.

                          Speaking on the occasion – the Chief Guest Sh. Maheshinder Singh Sidhu, Councillor, M.C., Chandigarh stressed on poverty alleviation and explained the importance of the Aajeevika in making people self-dependent. The Chief Guest further informed the students that Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) is one of the flagship programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India to alleviate rural poverty. The programme aims to organize the rural poor women into their own institutions like Self Help Groups and their federations, Producers’ Collectives etc. and also ensure their financial inclusion and livelihoods support. Since its launch in 2011, the Mission has spread to 4456 Blocks of 584 Districts, across 29 States and 5 Union Territories. Women from 4.7 crore of the poorest and marginalized families have been mobilized into 39.9 lakh Self Help Groups, which have been federated into 2.20 lakh Village Organizations and 19,000 Cluster Level Federations.  Women’s Self-Help Groups have now accessed Rs.151,000 crores of funds from banks. The Mission has succeeded in identifying and working with more than 33 lakh women farmers to increase the productivity of farms and promote diversified livelihoods, especially by promoting entrepreneurship. 

                          Sh. Sachin Rana, IAS, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh, who was the Guest of Honour, said Aajeevika Mission has proved that through women help groups (SHGs), economic and social changes can be brought in the rural areas.  Seeing this success, Aajeevika Mission will have to be implemented fast across Northern States including Chandigarh. DAY-NRLM also provides support for establishing Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in each district of the country in collaboration with the Banks and the State Governments to provide training to the rural youth from the poor households to take-up economic activities.

                          Shri Rana further informed that marketing of products of the SHG women is one of the major concerns of the Ministry of Rural Development. In order to empower the rural women artisans and to bring them above the poverty line, through access to better market and marketing systems, the Ministry of Rural Development has been supporting the organisation of exhibitions under the brand name of SARAS where Self Help Groups from different states participate and sell their products. At present, two SARAS Fairs in a State are sponsored by the Ministry during a financial year by way of providing assistance up to Rs 40.00 lakh per fair in Metropolitan cities (Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad) and up to Rs 35.00 lakhs per fair in non-Metropolitan cities. He praised the Govt. I.T.I. for Women, Chandigarh for implementing various Govt. of India Schemes for uplifting the rural poor and urban poor people by educating them and placing them in different Industry.

                         Principal of the Institute – Sh. Rajan Dogra, while speaking on the occasion, said that the Aajeevika Mission aims at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms to the rural poor and urban poor and enabling them to increase household income through sustainable livelihood enhancements and improved access to financial services.   He further informed that  the Ministry has been organizing SARAS fairs at Delhi as a part of India International Trade Fair (IITF).  Taking this forward, the Ministry had organized the AajeevikaMela in May, 2017 at India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO). The Aajeevika Mela 2017 had over 500 stalls that showcased a number of traditional arts and craft items produced by rural poor SHG women, as also a number of products which have added value to the farm and non-farm produce of these women. Inspired by the success of the Aajeevika Mela2017, DAY-NRLM organized the SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2018 in Hall No. 7, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 23rd March, 2018 to 1st of April, 2018 in which SHG women from all states of the country participated for exhibition and sale of their products in over 350 stalls. The stalls displayed the skills, potential and hard work of our women from across India. The products ranged from handlooms, handicrafts, artefacts and heritage products, tribal ornaments, decorative items, metallic products, earthen utensils, paintings, organic food items, spices, processed food products, soft toys, utility items, brass and wrought iron products.  

                 Earlier, Shri Sachin Rana, IAS, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated Aajeevika Awareness Centre showcasing the job roles and self employment opportunities available at this Institute under various courses and  under various Schemes.  The students had decorated this Awareness Centre with beautiful charts and displayed their stitched and embroidered garments all around in a very artistic way.  Later on, this Centre was visited by a large number of people and students, who were provided first hand information and complete knowledge about the number of courses and their job potentialities and further, the courses which are being provided  totally free at this Institute under different Govt. of India Schemes.

                         Prominent Experts from the Industry were also invited to deliver Expert Lectures to the students in order to prepare them for different nature of jobs in the Industry. Among those who delivered Expert Lectures included Sh. Rakesh Kumar, M.D., Pingaksho Technologies Inc., Mohali  and  Ms. Nitika, Sr. H.R. from Novo Elixir Inc., Mohali.  The students were highly benefitted from these Expert Lectures.

                         An alumina Meet was also organized by the Institute on this Day, where the old students shared their experiences with the new students. About forty alumina students had visited the Institute on Aaajeevika Diwas.  Among those who shared their views included some who are working as Teachers in Schools, Instructors in I.T.Is., Private Secretaries in Punjab Govt.  and a number of passed-outs who are working in I.T. Companies after passing various courses at this Institute.

                        A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students on this occasion.  The programme started with the lightening of the Lamp by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.  The students presented Saraswati Vandana in the beginning.  Later on, beautiful songs, dances from different States showing the culture of the county were presented.  In the end, Bhangra was adjudged as the best item.

                        The Chief Guest and Guest of Honor felicitated the students and staff of the Institute in their speeches and distributed of Certificates to the passed outs.  All the Alumina was also honored on the stage.

  1. CELEBRATION OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION WEEK – 2018 FROM 21-05-2018 TO 25-05-2018

                        National Energy Conservation Day in India is celebrated to aware people about the importance of energy as well as saving or conserving the more energy by using less energy. The exact mean of energy conservation is using less energy by avoiding the unnecessary uses of energy. Using energy efficiently is very necessary to save it for the future usage. Energy conservation should be rooted in the behavior of every human being to get more effect towards the plan of energy conservation. Keeping in mind this point of view and on the initiative of the Department of Electricity, Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh, this Institute organized from 21-05-2018 to 25-05-2018 various competitions among the students and staff of this Institute to bring awareness among them.

                        Speaking on the inaugural function, the Principal of the Institute, Shri Rajan Dogra said, “One can save the energy by deeply taking care of it such as turning off the unnecessarily running fans, lights, submersible, heater, combining car trips or other electric things of daily usage. These are the easier and efficient ways to save extra uses of energy thus playing the great role towards the campaign of national energy conservation.”  He further explained to the students and staff that “People must be made aware that bright lighting at their work places leads to the variety of problems like stress, headache, blood pressure, fatigue and reduces work efficiency of workers, whereas, natural day lighting enhances the productivity level of workers and reduces the energy consumption.”  Some other senior Faculty Members also spoke on the occasion to bring complete awareness among the students of this Institute. During the celebration of Energy Saving Week at this Institute, a number of competitions were also organized in which, large number of students and staff had participated.            

                         The Energy Saving Experts were also invited who explained that following steps must be taken to save and conserve energy to save the Nation:

  1. Windows are the big energy conservation contributing factors other than thermal curtains, smart windows or films.
  2. A big amount of energy can be saved by the natural lightings and compact fluorescent lamp or CFL (15W which consumes only 1/4th of the energy consumed by other means), Fluorescent bulbs, Linear fluorescent retrofit, Solar charged flashlight, Sky lights, Smart windows, LED lighting and Solar lights.
  3. Water conservation also leads to the better energy conservation. There is wastage of around thousands of gallons water per year by the people which can be prevented through various means of water saving solutions like 1.6 GPM or less low flow showerheads, ultra low flush toilet, faucet aerator, composting toilets and etc.
  4. Insulation also plays big role in energy conservation by decreasing the thermal losses in winter seasons as well as thermal gains in summer seasons. For example; natural wool insulation, house insulation, cotton insulation, VOCs in fiberglass insulation, thermal insulation, cellulose insulation and etc.

                            The purpose to celebrate the Energy Savings Week at this Institute was achieved as it successfully conveyed the message of importance of conserving energy in every walk of life among people.  The week also promoted the way of process of energy conservation by organizing a lot of events such as discussions, conferences, debates, workshops, competitions, etc.  Above all, the Week also encouraged people for less energy usage by neglecting the excessive and wasteful uses.      

  1. CELEBRATION OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY ON 5TH JUNE, 2018

                   World Environment Day was celebrated at the Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Chandigarh on 5th June, 2018 in the Conference Hall of the Institute.  Students and staff from all the classes attended the function in great numbers.  The function was presided over by the Principal – Sh. Rajan Dogra.  The Principal informed the students and staff that in order to overcome India’s waste management crisis, the Government has decided to launch a campaign in order to start a mini waste management revolution in India from June 5, 2018 - the World Environment Day.

                Beautiful Poems and Songs were sung in praise of green environment and the students took a pledge to participate in the Waste Management Mass Movement in a big way and promised to educate the other people about this movement in their nearby house hold and Sectors.  The function ended with a Vote of Thanks to the chair.

  1. CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY ON 21-06-2018

                          International Yoga Day was celebrated in this Institute on 21-06-2018 in which about 200 students and 50 staff members participated and performed Yoga Exercises under the supervision of a Yoga Instructor specially hired for this event from the Yoga Centre, Chandigarh. The programme was arranged in the Multipurpose Hall of the Institute. Yoga mats were provided by the Institute to the participants and they had come in proper Yoga Dresses. Earlier, the Principal – Shri Rajan Dogra addressed the audience and explained in detail the role of Yoga in our daily life and its benefits to keep ourselves fit both mentally and physically. Some other faculty members also spoke on the occasion. 

  1. START OF NEW COURSE NAMELY GENERAL DUTY ASSISTANT.

                       A new course namely, General Duty Assistant was finally approved and the same was started under IMC Society.               

  1. START OF NEW COURSE NAMELY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (DOMESTIC NON VOICE) UNDER PMKVY SCHEME OF GOVT. OF INDIA:

                      A new course namely, Customer Relationship Management (Domestic Non Voice)  was finally approved under PMKVY Scheme for its introduction under IMC Society of this Institute.  Necessary registration as Training Provider has already been made, whereas, the Training Centre is yet to be approved.  This Institute has provided all the required information on the prescribed proformas and necessary tools and equipments have also been purchased.  As soon as the sanction from NSDM Chandigarh is received, the classes will be started with immediate effect.

  1. INAUGURATION OF ANOTHER SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE UNDER PMKVY SCHEME AT GITIW:

                            Continuing the bid to create a skilled ecosystem, Chandigarh Skill Development Mission put another step forward towards success of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana in UT Chandigarh. Women empowerment is a big agenda of Chandigarh Skill Development Mission, therefore, another PMKVY Centre exclusively for women, in  much demanding course of Customer Relationship Management Domestic (Non Voice) was inaugurated by Shri Sachin Rana, IAS, Special Secretary, Technical Education-cum-Mission Director, Chandigarh Skill Development Mission on 6.8.2018 at Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector 11-C, Chandigarh.

                          The main objective of this Centre is to provide platform and comfortable environment to Women/girls in their career building. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sachin Rana said that this Multi-Skill Training Centre will enhance employability skills of students by offering occupational, communication and professional life skills which make them to become industry ready. He further informed that the students will also enjoy the benefits of certification and placement assistance.

On the occasion, a number of Members from Industry were also present. Mission Director urged the industry to make equal contribution towards training of such certified people so that we further strengthen our industries and our youth. The focus on skill development should be as much as we have on research and production today.

                          Earlier, the Principal of the Institute – Shri Rajan Dogra thanked the Chandigarh Skill Development Mission for starting a unique course under PMKVY Scheme at this Institute, as this initiative will expose youth to the enormous job opportunities available in IT/ITES/BPO and Retail sectors.

  1. CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY:

                      Independence Day was celebrated on 14th August, 2018 in the Campus of the Institute. After unfurling the Indian Flag, the students had arranged a cultural meet where patriotic songs were sung and lectures on great lives of freedom fighters were also arranged.  Speaking on the occasion, the Principal explained in detail to the students how we have achieved the freedom with great difficulties and urged the students to become patriotic.

  1. VISIT OF MS. PEACHY PAULINO FROM JAPAN, IT EXPERT  TO THIS INSTITUTE ON 20-08-2018 AT 11 A.M. ALONG WITH A TEAM OF DELEGATES FROM IDS INFOTECH LIMITED, MOHALI:

                           The visit of Ms. Peachy Paulino, from Japan to this Institute on 20-08-2018 at 11 A.M. along with a team of delegates from IDS InfoTech Limited, Mohali was arranged. As planned earlier, the Foreign Guest Ms. Peachy Paulino along with other delegates from IDS InfoTech Ltd.,Mohali were received by the Principal, Ms. Renu Saini, Industry Member and other faculty members from IMC Educational Block and were straightway taken to the IMC Conference room, where a brief introduction was given by the Principal - Sh. Rajan Dogra about the functioning of the IMC Society at this Institute under the able Chairmanship of worthy Sh. Partap K Aggrawal. Immediately thereafter, Ms. Renu Saini, Industry member gave detailed Presentation showing the marvellous achievements of the IMC Society since its inception at this Institute.

                           The Foreign Guest was very much impressed by the Presentation given by Ms. Renu Saini and wanted to know certain information with regard to the Placements of the passed out students. She was shown all the records pertaining to the verifications/authentic visits made by the authorities from Govt. of India to the respective offices/ organizations / Industry of the employed students from this Institute and photographs with regard to the proof of their visits were clicked, which has now become the record of this Institute.

                          After that the foreign guest was taken to various classes of the IMC Block where she interacted with the students and staff. Thereafter, she was overwhelmed on visiting the Cosmetology lab, Embroidery Workshop and Sewing technology workshops, where the students were seen busy in preparing their jobs on machines. All the members of the team accompanied by the foreign guest enjoyed the visit very much. At last, the foreign guest planted a tree in the campus of the Institute. This was a memorable visit as everyone was very much impressed by the foreign guest who took keen interest in the day to day functioning of the Institute and encouraged the students and staff.        

  1. INAUGURATION OF ICT TRAINING AT GITIW ON 10TH SEPTEMBER 2018:

                The Directorate of Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh has been chosen as Nodal Agency to impart the aforesaid training at all the Technical Institutes of U.T. Chandigarh. In all, 20329 U.T. employees will be imparted training on IT/ITes so as to enable them to become more efficient and competent to meet the requirements of their duties.  Shri B. L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Personnel, Chandigarh Administration inaugurated the first ICT) training batch of employees of Group A, B, C and D of Chandigarh Administration at a simple function held at Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector 11, Chandigarh.

                Shri B. L. Sharma, IAS explained that this training was necessitated by the Chandigarh Administration as the employees were feeling deficient in the knowledge of computers; hence, this Project has been initiated to make every employee equipped with the knowledge of computers and operations. Earlier, Shri Sachan Rana, IAS, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest and thanked him for starting the computer training for employees of Chandigarh Administration. Shri Rajan Dogra, Principal of the Institute assured that the experienced hand faculty has been engaged to train the employees and course content would be kept more engaging and meaningful.

                 Mrs. Sunita Mehta, Nodal Officer earlier gave a presentation as to how this training was going to benefit the employees and their Departments. Great enthusiasm was seen among the employees with regard to their joining this training and it is certain that this training will bring greater efficiency and they will be able to make use of the latest technologies in day to today working.

  1. CELEBRATION OF NUTRITION DAY (RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH) :

                                  National Nutrition Week was celebrated each year during the month of September 2018 to aware the students about important tips of their health and well-being. Through the national nutrition week campaign people from all over the world can be educated to maintain their look and feel better. National Nutrition Week was celebrated at this Institute with great fun. Seminars, workshops and expert lectures were arranged in the Multipurpose Hall of this Institute on various days.

                   The one month campaign involved training for preparing the nutritious food with the healthy stuff, debate on wheat and soya-been in order to let them know about their nutritious value.  In addition,  various competitions on slogan writing , Poster Making and Cleanliness drives were also organized in which a large number of students and staff participated.

  1.      CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NON VIOLENCE:

             October 2, 2018 was celebrated as the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who led perhaps the biggest mass movement in the world. It is in recognition of his contributions that the United Nations has declared October 2 as the International Day of Non-violence. October 2 is significant for yet another reason. It’s also the birth anniversary of lal Bahadur Shastri, who resembled Gandhi in many ways — from his simplicity and honesty to conviction and courage. Shastri was a Gandhian on the issue of non-violence as well. While presiding over a function to mark the day, Shri Rajan Dogra, Principal of the Institute said that after all, for Gandhi - non-violence was never a sign of weakness or cowardice. It was his strength emanating from a moral courage and the Mahatma was very clear that when the choice was between violence and non-violence, the latter should prevail. The Principal further urged the students to follow the teachings of Mahatama Gandhi and explained that when there is a choice between cowardice and violence, Gandhi preferred violence. He wanted India to resort to arms only if the question of honour arose for the sake of our country. The programme was well attended by the students and staff and they pledged to work for non violence in their lives.            

  1. CELEBRATION OF KARVA CHAUTH

   On the auspicious occasion of Karwa Chauth, Mehndi competition was arranged in the campus of the Institute. The students of Basic Cosmetology arranged special decorated stalls and applied mehndi on the hands of students and staff. There was a great rush at their stalls and they were feeling extremely happy. 

  1. CELEBRATION OF RASHTRIYA SANKALP DIWAS ON 31ST OCTOBER, 2018  

  The formal Pledge ceremony was held at GITIW sector 11 C Chandigarh on account of "Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" and all the students and staff of this Institute participated in this  programme at 11:00 am on 31/10/2018. Shri Rajan Dogra, Principal of the Institute administered the oath and  the students and staff were urged to follow the teachings of Great National Leaders like Smt. Indira Gandhi and Shri Vallabbhai Patel.

  1. CONTINUATION OF ICT TRAINING FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF CHANDIGARH ADMINISTRATION  AT GITIW, CHANDIGARH

The weekly ICT training programme opened at this Institute exclusively for the Employees of Chandigarh Administration since September 10, 2018, continued further in batches of 20 each and expert Trainers from this Institute imparted quality training to them. The Employees were able to learn the detailed technicalities of the computers from our Trainers which has enabled them to perform their duties with more accuracy and devotion in their respective offices. The new batches of ICT training will continue to get ICT training during the coming months.

  1. INDIAN CONSTITUTION DAY:

Indian Constitution Day was celebrated in the Multi Purpose Hall of the Institute on 26-11-2018. Necessary report on the celebration of ‘Constitution Day’ on 26th November, 2018 at Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector 11-C, Chandigarh, is submitted as under:-

  1. RUN FOR EQUALITY:

On 26-11-20118, in the early Morning at 7.00 A.M., a Run for Equality was arranged under the leadership of Hostel Warden-cum-PTI of the Institute in which atleast 100 students from the Institute including hostellers participated.A Run for Equality was taken out through the main markets of Sector 11 and Sector 10 and residential lanes of these Sectors to make the people aware about the importance of the Day which have taught us the lesson of Equality.The Run was successful, which ended at 8.30 A.M.

  1. COPY OF PREAMBLE OF THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION DISPLAYED AT DIFFERENT POINTS IN THE INSTITUTE:

Copies of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution were beautifully displayed at each and every corner of the Institute including at Notice Board, Hostel Building, Library, Canteen, Conference Hall and Multi-Purpose Hall.With the display of Copies of the Preamble, the whole Institute was giving a good and bright look and all the students were attracted by this Preamble and were seen reading the Preamble thoroughly.

  1. EXPLAINING OF THE SALIENT FEATURES OF THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION BY INDIVIDUAL CLASS INCHARGE TO THE STUDENTS IN THEIR CLASSES:
  2. In this respect, all the Class Incharge were put on duty to explain in detail the salient features of the Indian Constitution individually in their classes  to the students in small numbers so that they could understand properly the details of the salient features of the Indian Constitution.  This exercise had brought fruits and the students became confident after knowing the details of the salient features of the Indian Constitution.  This effort was appreciated by all the staff members including students.

 

  1. ARRANGING OF GUEST LECTURES ON THE PREAMBLE OF THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION BY  EXPERTS INVITED FROM OUTSIDE:

In order to provide the students and staff the specific knowledge and details of the Indian Constitution, two Guest Expert Lecturers: i) Dr. M. L. Gupta, Ex-Dean, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and ii) Prof. Rakesh Barik, an Expert of the Indian Constitution, who is engaged in teaching Constitution of India to IAS students in different Colleges/Academies, were invited to address the students and staff.A small function was arranged in the Multi Purpose Hall where all the students and staff had gathered.In the beginning, the Principal of the Institute welcomed the Guests and urged the students to gather full knowledge of the Constitution of India so that every citizen becomes competent to avail their benefits, as provided to them under the Constitution. Later on, the two Speakers also explained to the students and staff in detail the history of the Indian Constitution and its day-to-day implementation in real lives of the Indians and further explained in detail, how changes or amendments can be made in the Constitution for better future.The students asked the Experts various questions to enhance their knowledge on the subject.In the end, the Principal thanked the Expert Guests for sparing their precious time and visiting this Institute for sharing their expert knowledge to the students of the Institute.

  1. POETRY RECITATION, ESSAY WRITING CONTEST AND QUIZ COMPETITION:

In order to involve the students in various activities related to the Constitution Day, Poetry Recitation, Essay Writing Contest and Quiz Competition were organized at the Institute in which number of students participated with full enthusiasm. They recited Poems in honour of our Nation and praised the Democratic Constitution, which has provided them Right to Equality and Freedom.Similarly, in the Essay Writing Contest, the students wrote beautifully about the strength of our Constitution and how it has been functioning and made us proud to be an Indian.In addition to it, Quiz Competition was organized in which questions were put up to the students on the Indian Constitution and its salient features, for which the students replied promptly and won the positions.

In all, the students and staff have greatly benefitted by the celebration of Indian Constitution Day at this Institute.Everyone looked amazing and happy to know about the hidden truth about the Indian Constitution and some of them were seen saying that before this, they did not much about their fundamental rights even.The students and staff thanked the Principal of the Institute for organizing such a wonderful and beautiful function which consisted of various events, which were also organized in a very attractive way by the organizers.

  1. CAPACITY BUILDING AND TRAINING WORKSHOP ORGANIZED BY DAY-NULM  ON 20TH NOVEMBER 2018 AT CHANDIGARH JUDICIAL ACADEMY, SECTOR 43, CHANDIGARH:

State UPA Cell, DAY-NULM of MCC organized a  Capacity Building & Training Workshop  on DAY-NULM and National Legal Services Authority, NALSA ( Effective Implementation of Poverty Alleviation Scheme), 2015 on dated 20.11.2018 at 9.30 a.m to 5.00 p.m at  Convention Hall, Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Sec. 43, Chandigarh.  Two Instructors from IMC participated in this workshop and gathered latest information and knowledge about the scheme in question.

 

  1. CONVOCATION FUNCTION HELD ON 29-11-2018  FOR THE ITI PASSED OUT TRAINEES AT THE GOVT. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE FOR WOMEN, SECTOR 11-C, CHANDIGARH.

The Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector 11-C, Chandigarh arranged and celebrated its Annual Convocation on 29-11-2018 for the ITI passed-out students of the session 2017-18 in the Multi Purpose Hall of its Campus.Shri Maheshinder Singh, Councillor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest, who presided over the function and gave away the National Trade Certificates to all those trainees, who have passed their Final Examination from this Institute, as conducted by DGT, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

The function was well arranged for the pass-out students, as per the instructions received from Govt. of India, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, DGT, New Delhi vide their letter No. MSDE18025/02/2018-TTC, dated 27-06-2018, which was further endorsed to this Institute by the Director, Technical Education, UT, Chandigarhvide Memo. No. F.495/EA(P&EC)-2018/1436, dated 16-11-2018 for necessary action.

One day before the Convocation i.e. on 28th November, 2018, a Rehearsal was arranged in the Multi Purpose Hall which was attended by all the passed out students. Proper seating arrangement for the students and staff, with decoration of the Stage and Multi Purpose Hall was made in a very beautiful way and mike was put up for announcing the names of the students trade-wise and turn-wise. Sufficient staff was put on duty and during the conduct of Rehearsal, the students were sent on the Stage one-by-one to receive their National Trade Certificates.During Rehearsal, they were told about their serial number in the trade-wise lists, which were prepare to facilitate the students on the Stage to receive their NTCs from the Chief Guest without any problem and any disturbance in the Hall.They were also taught how they should move further and cover their passage up to the Stage and what type of correct posture they should adopt while receiving their National Trade Certificates from the Chief Guest on the very next day.Minute-to-minute Rehearsal was conducted on 28-11-2018 and the students were made aware of the procedure to be adopted by the Institute for delivering their NTCs on the day of Convocation.Every student was satisfied with the arrangement.

On 29th November, 2018, the Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector 11-C, Chandigarh celebrated with great pomp and show its Annual Convocation Day for the passed out students of the session 2017-18 at the Multi Purpose Hall of the Institute.Newspaper Advertisements had also been got published in the three leading Newspapers of the repute of the Northern Region to publicize this function.On the arrival of the Chief Guest, he was presented with a bouquet.The Convocation was inaugurated by lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Chief Guest -ShriMaheshinder Singh, Area Councillor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarhand the Principal – Sh. Rajan Dogra.The area of the Ceremonial Lamp was decorated with Rangoli by the students. The Hall wore a festive look.

First of all, the Principal of the Institute welcomed the Chief Guest and presented the Annual Report of the Institute and highlighted the illustrious achievements of the students in different fields.Enlisting the glorious progress made during the last session,hehighlighted thattwo newcourses of the duration of six months each, namely, General Duty Assistant andCustomer Relationship Management Domestic (Non Voice)have been opened for the benefit of young women, under CoE and PMKVY Schemes of Govt. of India.These courses are funded by Govt. of India and are being offered to the students free of cost.These courses are job-oriented and the passed outs will get jobs immediately on passing these courses.He also mentioned various infrastructural additions such as the New Educational Block of the Institution with a capacity of 600 students.

Congratulating the passed-outs, in his Convocation Address, ShriMaheshinder Singh, Area Councilor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh said that the students must take pride in the fact that they have been the students of one of the best Industrial Training Institute of the country and they should now be role models for others.He motivated them to stand and fight exploitation and also preserve the dignity of others.He stressed that being educated they have entered a new phase of their lives and it is now their responsibility to pay back to the Society and Nation.

More than 400 students were conferred with National Trade Certificates. The moments were really memorable. The students who secured top positions in their respective trades, were also honoured by the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest praised the staff and students for organizing such a wonderful Convocation.The Principal of the Institute thanked the Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts of the staff and students for the success of this function.

Other prominent staff members who spoke on the occasion, thanked the DGT, New Delhi authorities for their pain staking efforts in directing the ITIs all over India to arrange Annual Convocations for the benefit of the ITI students and to empower them through improved and excellent skills, knowledge, nationally and internationally recognized qualifications.The Convocation has enabled them to gain access to decent employment and ensured India’s competitiveness in the global market.By arranging the Annul Convocation, healthy image has also been fostered and the passed outs have been awakened to know the importance of their NTCs.and also show their credibility before their possible employers all over the world for employment purposes.

 

  1. CELEBRATION OF VOTERS’ DAY:

A pledge ceremony was organized wherein whole of the institute students and the staff members participated on National Voters day. Thereafter, a poster making competition was organized in which number of students participated with full enthusiasm and the concept of this poster making competition was National Voters Day.Parallel a quiz competition was organized in which also number of students participated. The students were very enthusiastic and keen to participate in this event.Lastly, an essay writing competition was organized in which again lot of students participated and the topic of Essay writing was “NationalVoters Day”.

 

  1. CELEBRATION OF REPUBLIC DAY:

It was a great honour for this institute that some of the students of this institute were selected by the Chandigarh Skill Development Mission and Director, Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh to participate in the State level Parade performed at the Parade Ground in Sector 17, Chandigarh on 26th January 2019. This important day was also celebrated in the campus of this institute in which National songs were sung and various competitions were also organized.
